The Costa Calida is now affectionately being called the ‘Costa del Golf’ due to the many golf courses and golf resorts that are in the area.
La Manga Club has been the favourite with the ‘rich and famous’ for 20 years, and more recently it is the top football teams that come to train here that have created a lot of interest in the area. It boasts three 18 hole courses, 18 tennis courts, a 5 star hotel, restaurants bars and a Casino. Holidaymakers are welcome to play on the course or visit the facilities, providing they are appropriately dressed and have their handicap certificate.
The Polaris World Golf Resorts are now some of the best known golf resorts in Spain due to their course designer Jack Nichlaus and his extensive TV advertising. These resorts appeal to the whole family, not just the golfer. There are children’s’ play areas, health centres, spas, hairdressers, bars, restaurants and shops. Polaris World also organise trips to other areas of Murcia or activities such as scuba diving for the more adventurous. They are a great place for families, as the 24 hour security and gated community makes one feel secure. The great thing for the golfer is that there is a free shuttlebus service between the resorts enabling the golfer to play on several of the Nicklaus designed courses.
